By now, some of you are probably aware that some people -- most likely trolls -- would post a certain Arabic phrase anywhere, most often in in the comments section of YouTube videos. Or even in the Twitch chat. That phrase is "Allahu akbar".

Now, a mandatory explanation is in order. "Allahu akbar" ("الله أكبر") literally means "God is the greatest". Devout Muslims would utter this phrase during prayers; in fact, you will hear it a lot when you get a chance to hear Muslims pray. It's also part of the call for prayer broadcasted by mosques everywhere when the time for prayer comes. Here, in Malaysia, the Malays might even reactively shout "Allahu akbar!" whenever they got shocked or surprised -- in this case, it's like the equivalent of "Yikes!"

Well, it seems that, thanks to the increasing amount of jihadism and suicide bombing, especially after 9/11, that phrase in the West seemed to have also become associated with Islamic extremism, especially that of suicide bombers. *Sigh* =_= I guess it's because this is the last word they uttered before they blew themselves up.

No doubt that these trolls would deliberately post "Allahu akbar" in the comments, just to stir a reaction within the community. To make these Islamophobics' bloods boil. And also to stir Muslims' bloods boil as well, because of our entitlement to protect Islam at all costs, and condemn those who try to insult the religion.

Now, I'm aware that there's nothing I can do about it. x_o "Allahu akbar" is practically a meme now, and is even used in image macros everywhere. (Like the much well-known "Allahu snackbar".) I know that, as a Muslim, I'm supposed to be angry about it, but in reality, I hold no grudges, really. Because it's pointless to try to convince everyone to stop insulting Islam. Doing so will only make it even more likely for these trolls to keep posting stuff like this.

I dunno. I'm not sure whether or not to laugh or cry that a sacred Islamic phrase we use every day has been reduced into an object of much ridicule among the West.
