Video Editing Software? by sixrabbits

I've not only been wanting to delve into making videos (spoilers, I am planning a beginners photoshop video) but it is starting be requested of me in more professional settings to create animatic/storyboard videos. I would like to be able to do more than MovieMaker's limited slideshow option.

Does anyone have any particular video editing softwares that they would recommend? While I prefer free, if something is truly worth it, I have no problem with paying for.

I was looking at Davinci Resolve, which may be good. Has anyone used that software?

If you have the Adobe Creative Cloud Subscription, then you probably have the Premier Pro and After Effects (For making neato motion graphics)

  SECONDED because the cloud gives you both Premier and A.E. which have great capibilities. it just is like... playing the product game, wether you want to buy a standalone application or subscribe yourself to a cloud that includes version updates.
  
  After Effects lets you import tiff image sequences with alpha layer capabilities, which is crucial for animation. after effects is where you can really play around in terms of animation and set up sequences and essentially play with the multi-plane effects of shooting and visual editing.
  
  Premier is excellently streamlined for putting together your scenes, arranging sequences together on the screen, and plugging in your soundtrack. it's really powerful for adjusting your specs and compressing as well.
  
  I am currently using these for animation in my capstone project myself, so if you have any questions or anything, feel free to ask! and I do stream sometimes so you could see me use it first before deciding for yourself.
