End of Summer... by ClockworkWolf

Sigh Another summer has come to an end and classes are starting. Time to exchange the drawing time for study time and...Wait, I only posted one finished picture over the majority of the summer...

What happened? Honestly, art just didn't happen. There weren't many days where I woke up and wanted to draw and when I started all interest drained away. Instead I did some programming, played some videogames, worked on some other projects and did a lot of unwanted yard work. It wasn't the most productive summer but that's how things usually go: the moment you have the time to do what you want is the moment you lose all interest in doing it. The last two posted were done during a brief span of creativity and are just some cathartic ones with some musings in the descriptions.

Now that classes are only a handful of hours away I can already feel the urge to draw picking up. It won't be anything super finished but my nice drafting pencils are begging to be used. I might even take the opportunity to sit outside and do some landscape drawings; get a little better at backgrounds because that's something I don't do too often and I still need to get better at speed and fluidity.

This isn't to say that I haven't been drawing. I still draw with the usual Drawpile group every Friday and Sunday. It's not that much considering I'm there for almost 12 hours (and not particularly good half the time) but it's a fun time. We've taken to watching movies later in the evening, held our first official SoFurry Drawpile Movie Day and have another one planned for sometime when we have a common break and might hold some holiday ones around Halloween and Christmas if things go well. If you're interested, we post the latest news up on the group page so feel free to bookmark or join if you want (SoFurry is down right now, see my SoFurry page for the link when it's up).

That's about it for the update. Stuff wasn't done, other stuff was done instead and now I go back to learning boring stuff. I'm not dead yet!

End of Summer...

IMHO the best possible summer is one in which you do absolutely nothing. ;p

I wish I could. Unless I've at least tried to be productive during a day it feels like a complete waste. And sadly I only have a few games where I can say I'm being slightly productive :P

I feel the same way, BUT, seems like summer is this designated "nothing gets done" time, and I've come to accept it.
