its never too far away from home by LycheeMonster

i believe knowing about even potential shootings is general public knowledge and should not be placed behind an adult disclaimer.

today in Northgate in the park behind the Target, some dude ran past us and thru the green, into another yard, carrying a firearm. four police jogging towards you, one on each side with backup feverishly phoning and gesturing will send you into some kind of fucking feeling. they pinned him down on the other side of the building from where my van is parked. ten minutes ago. good thing i popped out to try to find a phone charger. i left my brick between the seats, and-

i'm glad i hesitated to go back for it. im glad i didn't fall all the way asleep in it while waiting for a friend... im glad i had that mom and her infant, and that man with us. im still looking over at him on the bench, thankful he was just there with us. hoo boy oh gosh it was just ten minutes ago.

some kid on a skateboard with a green helmet is gonna have a bomb af story for his weekend LA assignment, play by play.

Gah that's terrifying I'm so glad you're okay!

Unfortunately shootings are starting to become more and more common in my home town too; there were two almost at the same time in my area yesterday.

I really have a harder and harder time justifying anything except extremely high or harsh gun prices/restrictions at this point because it makes it too easy to make a too permanent decision...
