TMI Tue-No Wait Wednesday by Malachyte

I feel like chatting a bit with you all, so I thought I'd post a late TMI journal. Feel free to ask me about hobbies, art, business, characters, projects, daily life; pretty much anything. If it's something too personal for my comfort I'll simply say so, no harm done.

So, aside from being an awesome artist, what are some of the ways you choose to spend your time? Into anime at all? Books, movies, games, etc?

Thanks for the compliment! I've been into anime since I was in middle school, back when it was only in the "special interest" sections of video rental stores, ha ha. I don't watch very much of it these days though, there just isn't enough time in the day. I'm in the middle of Kuroshitsuji at the moment. I adore books and reading, typical I stick to the fantasy genre, but I'll dabble into sci-fi now and then. I also have a soft spot for YA fiction. Video games are another hobby I grew up with, but I don't play as much these days since I work a lot. I still find time throughout the week, but it takes me ages to beat something. I'm playing Pokemon Black right now.

I forgot exactly when I got into anime, but it's been ages now. I'm currently watching Log Horizon (just started, actually) which is pretty much a clone of the premise to SAO (Sword Art Online), but it's still looking to be an interesting anime. I also love to read, though I don't read much anymore. Fantasy novels were, like, my Crack in high school. x3 I first got into reading Fantasy through Elf Queen of Shannara by Terry Brooks.

As for games, I'm more a fan of Fantasy/RPG types, though I don't mind playing others (I'm currently playing Metro: 2033 Redux, a survival-esque game, for PC).

I also try my hand at writing on occasion.

What is the general breakdown of a typical freelance day for you?

    • Link

Oh god, I wish I had a typical day. I wake up around 8am, and depending on how I feel I'll take my morning as my "me" time, or check messages and answer emails, or even work on commissions straight away. Then I pack lunch for myself and my husband, do dishes, exercise and shower. Then lunch, and then commissions or more emails or maybe I have to clean the house that day or maybe I have art block or maybe I'm doing comics or maybe I deleted my save file and a drawing is gone or maybe I can't stand being in the house one more minute and I need to get some fresh air--- And then suddenly it's night time.

Ha that really reminds me of my day way too much. Another question do you stream and when abouts do you do it? Also what website?

        • Link

I do stream, yes. I switch between using Tigerdile and Picarto, though lately I've been using Picarto more since it allows cub art. I don't have any kind of schedule for it, but when I do stream I usually post an announcement to my Twitter or my Telegram group, and depending on the audience size I want I'll post a notification using Weasyl, IB or FN as well.

I'm lucky if I can go to sleep by 8am most days. x3
