Miami Therapist Shooting Concerns by ACDragon

Recently a behavioral tech at a Miami group home was shot in the leg by police while he was trying to calm an autistic patient. He had his hands up and he was complying. Here's one of the myriad of articles circulating about the incident:

The raw video of the situation doesn't show the actual shooting, but it DOES show the cops searching the autistic patient while he's laying on his stomach. Only moments before, that same patient is seen sitting upright on the ground, and in the "after" shot it looks like he's just lying there motionless, indicating that he probably took a bullet too. Yet there is no mention of what happened to him in any of the articles or videos that I've been able to find, and while the therapist getting shot bothers me, I'm far more bothered by the omission of the patient's fate. Did he survive, or did the cops kill him like they have a well-earned reputation for doing when dealing with mental patients? Why do the outlets not say what happened to him?

Of course, I already know the answer to that last question: It's all because of the whole "black lives matter" thing that the media's been pushing as of late. Black therapist gets wounded = huge story simply because he's black. This might also answer why there's no mention of the patient's fate. After all, the patient was white. Can't have a good "Black Lives Matter" outrage if you mention what happened to the white patient, now can we?

The media knows how to push people's buttons, get people outraged at one thing while convincing them to completely ignore far worse things. Americans take the media's word at face value way too much these days. Institutionalized racism, patriarchy, rape culture, etc., are all just catch phrases used to entertain the masses. The real problem with this country is that nobody thinks anymore, they just believe whatever they are told to believe.
