Status and New Website! by Thea

Sorry about the lateness on those portraits. Life is crazy and that's why I didn't promise a due date.

What have I been up to? Did a family reunion, then Surfur the weekend after that, then IMC the week after that, then I got sick from the flight home, so that leaves me with about a week to get things done in June.

IMC was flippin incredible- something of an illustration/art nerd's dream come true. Having all of the industry champions who post to your favorite blog( http://muddycolors.blogspot.ca/ ) in one building was magical. There wasn't one lecture where I didn't learn something profound. As much as I loved having the instructors pick apart my assignment it felt a bit daunting as, due to a couple time factors, I was three days late just starting the final sketch, so couldn't finish to have feedback on my whole process. Then I totally forgot to get all of my new portfolio concepts critiqued even though I was there for a week- WHOOPS. It was a lot to take in though working from 9am-11pm.

Then two days after getting home I get a renewal notice for my website hosting, aaaand I'm completely broke. So after the enlightenment of illustration agent interviews at IMC I decided to transfer my domain to tumblr! An entire day theme editing and a kleenex box later I'm finally ready to show off my new baby:

It was frustrating trying to pick the right layout as tumblr is never short of quirks, but now that it's done I highly recommend this to anyone who is lazy like me and doesn't feel like fighting FTTP servers to upload new work or to spend days playing catch up on web design trends. You can pin posts to the top to keep your portfolio priority, or just include a portfolio tag to add to the sidebar. To make sure your pictures open in a light box fashion on the same page go to your "-whatever- layout picture post captions" and make sure it's set to "Full caption below picture" and only have one image per post or else you start redirecting to another page.

What's next? Declogging the snauze/brain and catching up with commissions, Liquescence and my homework for Legendeer which I take off for shortly after mid-July. There seriously isn't enough time in a year. I feel like I can barely keep up with what little I do let alone making work for the jobs I want to get. @___@
