Update for summer 2016! by SketchyTas

Hey everyone!

Tomorrow I begin day shift at my first summer job in 4 years. It's kind of an intimidating thing for me, but it's also hopefully a step towards normalcy and properly dealing with depression and how things have been for the last few years.

Knowing myself, the next three months are going to be kind of hard on me physically and I may be very tired at the end of workdays. That means I may just want to kick back and play video games instead of sketching in the evenings. It's a bad habit, I know, but I need to take smaller steps so to speak, and not stress myself out too much.

This means there may not be as much art from me over the summer, which is why I have closed commissions and discontinued my Patreon (it wasn't working out anyway). I'll try to draw as much as possible, but if it's just not working out, I'm not going to spend hours staring at an empty canvas on my Cintiq each week. I'll draw when I feel like it.

Yeah, as much as most feel like they should draw as much as possible, breaks are very important too. Drawing when you feel like it is a legitimate way to handle drawing time, instead of forcing art out all the time.

Congrats and good luck on your new job!

The important thing is to take care of yourself! Do what's best with you, don't push yourself so hard you break, but of course you knew that already or else you wouldn't have made this journal. Just know that we're behind you!
