How'd That No Security Thing Work Out FA... by FlameWolf
Yeah, FA got pretty ROFL'd recently. Not too surprising given their amazing lack of care towards site security. Also, I like how they put up a beta banner to give the illusion shit is being worked on. All appearance to keep IMVU happy. I have to wonder just how much more leeway they're willing to give Neer. While he's still head of the site, they technically own it and want it to make money. They also want the money they've invested to go into actual site improvements. Shit that was already done by someone Neer hired. But that's a whole other can of worms.
I have to say I'm pretty glad most of my art is here now. It seems like Neer could give a shit for FA or improving it just so he can keep the lead coder happy. Great leadership man. Meanwhile FA has been down for two days. How did that work out for you? Was not caring the good way to go with things?

yep, like people that endlessly bitch about an company/corporation, alongside how bad their games are, yet they keep buying them like fucking hypocrites, activision is an perfect example, and from the looks of it, this will soon apply to blizzard

I only post art work for others there anymore because they don't want to move. Its a quintessential abusive relationship. It won't stop until one dies... I really have to wonder how long it'll be before IMVU dumps funding due to FA being a money pit.

Probably once IMVU is gone, they'll have more site breakdowns and beg for more money--that will probably line the admins' pockets. Again. We can only hope that constant long outages may finally start driving people away...I guess.

The best outcome for FA I can think of is that eventually IMVU will get sick of Neer and Co's fuckery, fires them, and hires, professional competent staff to run the place.
But uh. I don't really hold out hope for that happening. IMVU seems pretty content just using FA bombard folks with banner ads.
It's a shame that so many artists rely on it for their income when it's so unreliable and insecure.

I also loove the fact these security holes were there long before. These guys now have people's passwords and e-mails. Way to go Neer. Thnx for putting us all at risk. I just wish the whole fandom wasn't so reliant on it but people just don't want to move. Maybe if other sites allowed advertising like FA it would help.

That's a really good point, I never thought about it but the artist ads are definitely a big draw for using FA.

And the super-sad thing is...everyone will crawl back as if the disasters never happen there. :/ The staff will never work to improve the site, because they know people will go crawling back, too......... :(
