Upcoming end of season adjustments and voting. by FHL

Hello to all GMs, Commissioners, Players and Fans of the FHL! As the Season is slowly coming to the close, and after some discussions among the commissioners, it has been decided that there will be a few changes to the league to be either voted upon by the player or to occur at or just after the end of the season. We welcome everyone to read up on these items, and leave any comments and opinions here, on a note to the FHL, or in discussions on the League GM Skype chat.

The Topics on the docket at the current time are as follows:

EXP OVERHAUL

As you may know, there has been some concern about issues with EXP Growth scaling within the league. While the base system of Experience in the league is solid and good, it has been found that there are issues with how heavy it rewards preformance, especially in certain types. The system as it was also seemed to favor a bit to much to those that had already performed and earned well on top of it, which lead to some feelings of issues of Power Creep. Due to this, the plan is to revamp the Growth/EXP system, and adjust all players EXP and Stats retroactively.

Some of the changes to the EXP are as follows:
-Removal of Game Night Stars as an EXP Reward
-Increase of Rewards of Game Stars, and give bonuses for good nights that weren't awarded under HT/SO
-Re-scaling of HT/SO to fit within a smaller the other bonuses.
-Replacement of Achievement sheets with a Seasonal EXP Payout, based on how the player has preformed.
-Retroactive awards for any possible missing awards(for contribution or performance) before Season 3.

All in all, we hope with these changes, growth will be better balanced, and will scale better for all players going into next season.

COMPLETE SECONDARY RETIREMENT VOTE

At this time we are above the 160 skater mark with primaries, meaning that there isn’t a need to have a secondary skater to “fill a spot”. Due to this among other reasons, at the end of the season there will be a player vote to complete the retirement of any remaining secondary skaters and goalies within the league. The secondary skaters include:

  • Samantha Dalembert
  • Marc-Andre Bisallion
  • Liam Cowin Good
  • Donald Fitzpatrick
  • Qaragan
  • Brodie Hampton
  • Jaques St. Francois
  • Simba Sefu
  • Xanadus Knows-His-Gun
  • Vesa Turunen
  • Johan Bjorkman

The Secondary goalies include:

  • Justin Ramses
  • Tiberus Fisher
  • Moby Jones-Payne
  • Halfred Sunderson

Due to that the retirements may lead to some species coverage issues with these retirements, should this vote pass, we will be opening a few limited goalie spots, with the restriction that any application must be for a goalie that there is no more than 1 of the Species catagory within the league at the time of the retirements. Information on said openings will be available at a later time.

RETAINMENT ADJUSTMENT VOTE

Also due to concerns of Balance, and that the team size again changed over the past season, it has come to the commissioners position that Retainment numbers may need to be adjusted again, in that, there have been some feeling that the current system needs to be changed in more a dramatic way. Due to this, three ways of thought have been brought up on the subject. They are as follows:

-Simple Retainment Reduction to 4 Players
-GP Based Retainment: Teams can keep as many players as up to a set Career Growth Point number, based on a % of the team average Career Growth Points of the league at at the close of pre-draft EXP spending. However should that % leave teams below a set player threshold, they may ignore it and keep a certain number of players.
-Hybrid Retainment: Teams keep a few select players much like the original system, then may keep additional players based on a lower % in comparison to GP Based Retirement.

There has also been some small suggestions on direct balance:

-Victor's Penalty: The team that wins the cup would be reduced by one retainment spot during the next season. Multiple cup wins would stack until the cup is lost.
-Snake Draft: A Single-Time Pre-Draft event in which each team would lock in two players, before entering a 2 round draft like format in which teams can pickup non-locked players from other teams, with the exception of no team can have a player taken from them more than twice. Teams would also be able to lock a third player in between rounds.

So that is what is on the table. As noted above, all comments, critiques and opinions are welcome, and can be noted here, by PM to the FHL, or on the GM Chat. With that, we hope you all are enjoying the end of the season, and hope to see you with us into the future.
