Can anybody tell me what's "ghosting"?

Because I saw a couple journals referencing this and I a little confused.

Apparently there's something going on in FWA and there's a thing called ghosting. And from what I've gathered is that. Ghosting is when people decided to not pay a conbadge, but comes to the con itself to hang out with friends and go to parties. Never go to any of the dances and any of the panels or even the games.

This seems like a new thing going on this year because I've never heard of this thing until just now. Or perhaps this has been going on for a couple years considering the last furcon or convention in general was back in 2013. So, I know a lot has changed in the short few years, but hearing that people go to cons and not even go to them or even pay for them. That's mind boggling to me.

Who would go to a con and not even go to it? That's like, going to Walt Disney World and not go to any of the theme parks. It makes no sense.
