They Disney animation film timeline by JohnStripedfur

I think it's time to finally put down what we fans have been doing since we discovered their animation film library. Showcase each phase of the Disney animation film timeline. Here goes:

1937-1942: [b]The Classic Era/b: This is when Disney was starting out and hit the big times. A few ups and downs in the box office, but the films now are considered Classics. Hence, The Classic Era.

1942-1949: [b]The Complimation Period/b. This is the time when Disney was just producing complimation films. Meaning films with multiple shorts. Due to budget cuts and the timing of the Second World War, it's all they can do.

1950-1967: [b]The Golden Age/b. This is the era when every single Disney movie became a hit with the masses. It's when Walt Disney was able to finally make full length features with the budget they were able to get and produce good quality animation.

1970-1988: [b]The Dark Age/b. This is after the death of Walt Disney and where Disney as a company was into a very dark period. It was when Disney was striving for a new image. Especially with their films. Their animated films didn't exactly win box office numbers or even became popular overnight. But, most of them became cult classics in the following years.

1989-2000: [b]The Disney Renaissance/b. This era is when Disney pushed the boundaries of animation and broke new grounds. Each of their animated films became big blockbuster hits. Not only for the quality animation, but also quality storytelling and quality songs.

2000-2008: [b]The Low Period/b. To many this is another Disney Dark Age. To me and others. I call it The Low Period. This is the time when Disney tried its best to keep going from their high from the past decade. But sadly, each movie didn't broke new grounds or even became blockbuster hits. There were a few favorites and a couple hits, but none ever recreate the blockbuster luster that was The Renaissance.

2009-current:[b] The New Age/b. Some fans call this the Next Renaissance, but I call it the New age. Some say it started with Tangled, others Frozen, but I say it started with Princess & The Frog. This is when Disney decided to revive their department and go back to basics. To what worked during the Golden Age and the Renaissance. Princess & The Frog didn't become a huge hit persay. It may have to do to timing, but it did revitalized the department. Since then, each of their movies became instant hits.

Who knows when The New Age will end, but so far. It's been doing great. I fear it will be a matter of time when their streak will end, but when that happens. Let's enjoy this while it lasts. And who knows what another period will bring and when will that begin. :)
