As the F-Virus kept growing more and more popular, Umbrella Corporation wanted to branch out a little and see what else their new, special concoction could do to others besides just humans. Everyone knew that once a human is injected with the F-Virus, they'd transform into an animal creature almost immediately but what would happen if it's used on an actual animal, such as a tiger?

Aoi's father, the man behind the F-Virus and all its glory, has always admired tigers, mostly for their strength. They are powerful and dangerous creatures, after all. He had heard news that a tigress at Raccoon City Zoo would be expecting several tiger cubs soon. This would be amazing and beautiful news to many but Aoi's father had rather devious plans after hearing this news since he wanted to see what his F-Virus would do to the young ones of the tigress. He gathered some of his coworkers and began to heavily dissect and experiment further with his F-Virus to make a version that would also work perfectly on animals and would also give them those humanlike characteristics. Could you imagine, a tiger being able to communicate with you just like a human would? Tigers are fierce and strong predators but could it be possible to make a super cute tiger that would be a total coward and softie, not having a single fight in him? Aoi's dad definitely thought it could be possible and he was the one who was going to find out!

He contacted the Raccoon City Zoo and of course even they knew that Umbrella shouldn't be messed with and that it was one of the world's most powerful and dangerous companies so it would be a wise decision for the zoo to cooperate with Umbrella and do exactly what they want. He told the zoo that he'd be paying a visit to the tiger sanctuary and that their expecting tigress was going to test out his new F-Virus for him. In return, the zoo would get a large sum of cash that is higher than they could ever imagine in return for staying silent and telling no further about Umbrella and their F-Virus. He had created this F-Virus type specially for this tigress, making sure that it wouldn't affect her but only her young ones and hopefully one of them would be a completely chilled out tiger as ragdoll cat DNA and personality has been added to this F-Virus base. Which unlucky cub would get affected? We'll have to find out as it's completely random. Aoi's dad was already looking forward to it! A big tiger with the soft, gentle and chilled out personality of a ragdoll cat! Maybe the tiger will even be a big, cowardly softie! After the tigress was put into a deep sleep and injected with the F-Virus, Aoi's dad had left and the tigress has now been awake for several hours and nothing bad has happened to her. She's still the same and going strong. The zoo has also checked her cubs and they are all fine! Phew! Eventually, it was time for the tigress to give birth to her beautiful children. All of her tiger cubs seemed the same looks-wise and all were up and about, playing with each other and doing what young tigers do except for one of them...

Meet Ginger, the misfit tiger! He lacks a lot of his tiger stripes and he's a complete softie and doesn't seem to be very social or have an interest in playing with his siblings. Weeks went by and the cubs grew up super fast. Sadly for Ginger, his siblings liked to pick on him since he was super different, both in looks and personality. Ginger certainly wasn't your ordinary tiger and it was all thanks to that F-Virus, just like Aoi's dad had hoped! Ginger may be super soft and shy, but he's certainly not an idiot. He's quite smart and eventually had enough of the constant bullying by his siblings so he thought of a plan to escape one day when it was night, since all the zookeepers and humans would be gone, giving him a perfect opportunity to escape, especially when he was still small! Ginger became exceptionally good at climbing, and not just on or in trees! No, he quite liked to practice climbing different things and when the right time came, he decided to put his escape plan into action! Using his stealth and climbing skills, Ginger managed to escape from the zoo and wandered off into Raccoon City, which became his new home. Raccoon City Zoo quickly found out that one of the new tiger cubs had escaped and Aoi's dad was informed by the zoo as well. He didn't seem to mind that the tiger escaped and considered it hilarious but was mostly very satisfied that his experiment was a big success! The zookeepers had kept him well informed about Ginger and he even wanted to come visit the zoo to see how his experimental tiger was doing after several weeks but it was already too late for that since Ginger had already escaped. It's unknown if he will ever try to track Ginger down somewhere in Raccoon City but all he knows is that this experiment with the F-Virus was yet another big success and he looks forward to testing out the F-Virus on other animals in the future as well.

Ginger may be a softie and a big ol' coward when it comes to a tiger but he's also very sweet and wouldn't harm a fly! He's also very childlike. After years of living and roaming around Raccoon City, Ginger is all grown up now! Ginger isn't much of a hunter and instead feeds off of scraps he finds lying around in Raccoon City as well as feeding on defeated zombies and other creatures. Years of roaming the city also means he's quite familiar with it and he can mostly be found in and around Raccoon City Police Department. Everyone at the department knew about the zombie outbreak that had been going on for a while now and Ginger also was no stranger to it. He found the department after a few weeks of roaming the city. The people there quickly began to notice that there was a tiger roaming around the police department and everyone believed it to have escaped from the Raccoon City Zoo so naturally, they had plans to have the tiger caught and returned to the zoo. That is, until some of them started putting this plan into action and approaching the tiger...To everyone's great surprise, the tiger could talk, stand on its hind legs like a human, and he begged them not to hurt him! Ginger quickly introduced himself and explained everything that he could remember that had happened up to this point. He didn't want to return to the zoo and he begged those people not to have him be returned! After Ginger explained everything, it became quite obvious he was an "Umbrella experiment" so they were hesitant at first, given that Umbrella Corp. was responsible for all the chaos and zombies in Raccoon City, even infecting the animals at the zoo via contaminated drinking water, causing them to act very aggressive and escape. This was months later after Ginger had escaped and he also explained how he is never thirsty and hasn't had a drink of water in his life, meaning that the contaminated water could've never infected him. This must be some side effect from Ginger's F-Virus. A good side effect for once?! After discussing it with ones who were higher up, Ginger was given a chance and in exchange for protecting the police department against zombies and anyone else who had ill will, he was allowed to stay at the police department and roam around. Weeks went by and it was obvious Ginger could be trusted and that he wasn't infected with an actual nasty virus created by Umbrella, so Ginger kinda became the mascot of Raccoon City Police Department in a way and lots of people liked him! He got regular pets and belly rubs, and he was basically just a giant, gentle house cat! Must be that ragdoll DNA, huh? Sadly, the chaos and zombie outbreak became so bad that it eventually became uncontrollable and the police department was soon destroyed and taken over by many zombies and other mutant creatures created by Umbrella. Ginger being the softie that he is, got too overwhelmed and hid somewhere inside the department since this wasn't just one or two zombies he was up against! Shortly after Leon S. Kennedy's arrival to the police department after the whole place had been filled with blood, guts, corpses and monsters, he was introduced to Ginger early on who could sense that someone actually alive and sane was on the premises so he decided to check it out and hope that this person wasn't infected and was one of the good guys. Luckily for Ginger, this was Leon's first day on the job so he knew this guy could be trusted! Sadly for Leon, there was nothing lucky about his awful, nightmarishly insane first day at work. Ginger explained to Leon what had happened so far after letting him know he wasn't a hostile, or an infected monster, and explained his origins to Leon quickly. Being the big ol' softie that he is, Ginger offered to be Leon's sidekick and protect him to the best of his abilities as long as Leon promised that he could tag along, since he definitely doesn't want to be all alone in this scary place with those scary monsters! Poor Ginger...Since Leon was new here and Ginger already knew his way around the police department, the two formed a mutual understanding and became a team. They eventually became friends too and boy, were they a good team! Thanks to Leon being constantly with him, Ginger gained some confidence and became less hesitant and scared to attack a zombie or monster since it meant protecting Leon, and that is what he promised he would do so there was no time for cowardice! He and Leon had to find a way to get out of here and get to the bottom of this all. Ginger eventually meets Claire Redfield and Sherry Birkin as well as any others that Leon would meet canonically during his journey in the Resident Evil 2 Remake. Every boss and enemy had great teamwork between Leon and Ginger, so it seems these two will be okay as long as they stick and work together!

Leon and Ginger...A very odd yet amazing team indeed!
