Defining species lines for telinu varies from impractical (kokunu) to almost meaningless (matanu) so I've been focusing on naming groups on a genus level and above. Caladium is often called by names such as rug, carpet and horse's face plus the Tupi-derived Portuguese term tinhorão and hence the character's name, Tiñorä/Fiñorä (T before I becomes F/Th in a couple of conlangs). It's common in less desertic pockets of the caatinga and is a type of arum like my childhood favorite plant, the calla lily. This, coupled with my obsession with toxic lifeforms, inspired me to create a character based on them.

The current models cover most but not all lifestages. Jaye (⚘), miye (☾︎) and cluster-type kokiye (♇) all look identical outwards so Tiñorä's inner and outer models suffice (although jaye do not have separate inner and outer bodies and they're permanently fused). Old më (☉) and young amë (☉) can also be identical, but amë may look quite different once they start bearing fruits. Fragmentary kokiye (♏︎) are very different from the other morphs/stages, but are superficially identical to each other, even across families, taking the form of black orbs with frond-like tendrils (although they're also capable of building shells like miye).

Very visually striking entities! I especially like the Self form, it's almost like a vibrantly coloured sea-slug.

Yeah, thinks back in 2018 I wanted to add some sea slug influence to kokunu designs though most that came out of that was Menaç' srip form (who is organic-born and kinda doesn't count). And I guess that influenced me by the time I started to actually design true bodies for matanu this decade, though the main influence is still the Ediacaran biota, whose symmetry style lends very well to the plant-themed matanu (though is a pain to work with due to not being perfectly symmetrical haha).

Interesting, marine invertebrates do have a tendency in some cases to blend both animal and plant-like qualities potentially for camouflage, so I can see how that vibe can fit well for plant themed entities.
