Jess is slightly-overweight border collie belonging to a family who’s garden backs onto the wood that Reuben and Isabel live in. A massive science-fiction and computer game fan, this dog could almost be considered a geek.

But then geeks are smart, Jess however could get lost in a corridor.

Jess is partly based on a friend’s dopey dog, which always seemed to be living in a world of its own. I’ve always liked the name Jesse (which later got shortened to Jess) so I named him such. According to some people that I hang around with when I’m not doing anything better, some of Jess’s personality is very much like mine, although I made pretty sure not to make him just a Mary Sue character....except, y'know, making him the only one of the three to be in a relationship...I'm sure that's not projection at all lol.

Jess’s unnerving knowledge of science fiction is also from me. Border Collies have always been one of my favourite breeds so it seemed logical to have one as a main character.

Interesting Jess Fact: Jess was the first cartoon character I ever created, and was originally going to be THE main character...until I realised that Reuben and Isabel are much more fun to write for :P
