Abilities:

• Siri suffers from a disorder that causes a build-up of toxins in her body. The toxins, over a period of time, cause her organs to fail and die. Transplants do not work, as the new organs will eventually end up failing like the old ones.

• She was given an experimental mutant parasite that was supposed to bond with her failing organs and keep them alive. However, the parasite malfunctioned and began to assimilate more than just the failing organs.

• The parasite that infects Siri can reform itself into any shape, giving Siri mild shape-shifting powers. Due to the parasite not having assimilated all of her body, her shape-shifting is somewhat limited (only really extending to her limbs and some of her torso). The parasite will continue to assimilate Siri until it has taken over everything except her nervous system, which it can't assimilate.

• The parasite has regenerative abilities, giving Siri a healing factor.

• The parasite can mimic Siri's tissue by bonding to/assimilating it. This allows Siri to either use the parasite to make a "Suit", or just go with human skin (though due to the parasite being in her blood, her skin takes on a bluish tint). She can also form extra limbs & organs using the parasite.

• The parasite has an EXTREMELY high metabolism, which requires it to feed constantly. Siri can only go a few hours without feeding, or else the parasite will temporarily take control and feed on the nearest source of food (people, animals, food market, etc). Also, due to the high metabolism, her internal body temperature is much higher than normal.

• The parasite is mostly passive, giving Siri full control. However, If it gets too hungry, it will act to get food. However, outside of this situation, Siri is in control.

• When Siri absorbs a living organism, she gains some memories from the thing she absorbed. However, the organism's mind does not live on in Siri. Once she absorbs something, it is gone for good.

Weakness:

• Lack of food will make the parasite starve, and it and Siri will die.

• Extreme cold will eventually lower her internal body temperature, which will make the parasite unable to function, thus killing her.

• Separation of the parasite from her still-human body parts will leave her essentially as a corpse. However, this is extremely hard to do as the parasite has bonded to her, and is in contact with all of her body (even if the parts aren't completely assimilated).

• Introducing another parasite of a similar species can cause the original one to destabilize as it fights the new one. If the original parasite is overtaken by the new one, or the original parasite is unable to fight the new one while keeping Siri alive, then she can die.

Siri was the daughter of a Christian preacher and a Bio-engineer, which made life interesting, to say the least. While her parents were prone to bickering about the where the borders of faith and science lie, they loved each other and made things work for their daughter's sake.

However, Siri had a rather unfortunate medical condition that made toxins build up in her body. Over time, her organs would fail and she would need a transplant to keep her alive. But the toxins would continue to build up, and it would only be a matter of time before she would need another. While the doctors did their best treating her with medication, surgery, and other procedures, it would only delay her suffering for a while longer. Her parents did their best to help her, both with getting the right help and also by praying and looking into possible solutions.

But, by the time Siri was 19, her condition had reached critical. The toxins were building up faster than the doctors could treat them, and her organs were failing in mass. Transplants wouldn't help her any longer, and if left untreated, she would die in a matter of weeks.

Luckily, the company Siri's mother had been working for managed to get access to a rather lucrative specimen. The mutant faction known as Double Helix had granted them secret access to some of their mutation research, and the company had gotten to work developing mutant products to possibly aid humanity. They had recently developed a simple life form that could bond with an organism and act as a healing factor. While the project was highly classified and extremely experimental, Siri's mother knew that it was her daughters best chance at survival.

However, Siri's father wasn't too keen on the idea. "Playing God will only lead to despair and damnation," he remarked! There was no guarantee it would work, and if it didn't, the results could be worse than death. To gamble their daughter's life with some experimental abomination was something he couldn't condone… But Siri was dying, and secretly, he feared that God's plan for Siri was coming to an end. Even if it meant going against his faith, he had to try and save his only daughter.

After applying the organism, the effects were almost instant. It quickly bonded with Siri's dying organs, and within hours of receiving the strange life form, she showed signs of a complete recovery. The three rejoiced, having defied the odds and saved Siri from a slow death. Finally, after 19 years of suffering, they could all live in peace.

...But that would have been too easy. Only a week after recovering, Siri began acting strange. She complained of nausea, squirming feelings in her gut, and immense hunger. With each passing day, her symptoms got worse. Her parents began to panic, unsure of what was wrong. But as they prepared to take her back to the hospital, IT happened.

It was only an instant, but that was all it took for the parasite to burst out of Siri and lunge for her parents. Its growing hunger wasn't satisfied by the measly snacks and meals Siri had been eating. It was growing, and it needed food NOW! In a matter of seconds, it had absorbed both of Siri's parents, leaving no trace of them left.

Siri couldn't really stick around after that. If word got out about what her parents did to save her, and what she ended up doing to THEM, then it wouldn't be long before the government, her mother's company and Double Helix would have a bounty on her head. She needed to run! Maybe she could find a way to get rid of the parasite or to keep it under control. She didn't know if there was a solution, but she didn't have time to care. She just had to run.
