Sarah is a gray wolf. She wears her hair short and often is dressed in her work uniform.

Biographical Data:

Sarah McKane is a single mother of Davis and Lucy McKane. At a young age she met and married her sweetheart Arthur McKane from high school. When she went off to a factory job he joined the military and fathered two children with her.

When her children were young teens their father failed to return home from his latest tour overseas. Sarah was given a folded flag and from then on had to raise her cubs alone. She lives in a modest home in the suburbs and continues to work at various factory settings typically as a foreman.

Personal Statement:

"The name is McKane. Aside from my two children it's the greatest gift my husband ever gave me. I grew up in a small town where the biggest entertainment was the high school football team. Even though I was in the middle of a flyover state I met the wolf there I'd marry one day. I didn't know it at the time, who does? I figured we'd have fun for a while but he surprised me when he proposed right before he was going to ship out for his first tour of duty. I suspect he timed it like that on purpose knowing I couldn't turn him down when he was going to serve our country.

When he came back we got married and started having kids. I'd send him pictures of me as our babies came further along. He was lucky enough to be home to see Davis born. He missed Lucy's birth but you wouldn't know it how he doted on her. The kids were always pretty well behaved, lord knows one of the plus sides of being a pack based family unit is you learn how everyone's needs matter. Cooperation and supportiveness is just something wolves do. Add to that their father was in the military and taught them all about things like doing your duty and they were never any trouble. Well, almost. Kids always get into something. At least it gave me things to put in the letters to Arthur.

I never had any complaints about being home alone with the kids. They were my babies. Even when they got older they always took care of me as much as I took care of them. When Davis and Lucy were about 15 and 13, I got the visit I'd always dreaded. I wasn't expecting company but when I got to the front door there was military officer with a folded flag. I knew what it meant. I don't think I got out of bed for the next five days.

After my husband died not much really changed, since I was used to raising the kids on my own. Only now I didn't have a husband who would be coming home. In a way it made things easier but I missed worrying about him if that makes any sense. When they shipped his body home I think Lucy stopped talking for six months. That's the downside to being a pack. When you lose a member, it breaks us all.

These days things are pretty good. My Lucy is working at some big office. I don't really know what she does but she seems to like it. Not sure about her girlfriend though. She's dating some snake who seems to really like teasing my Lucy, but she seems to like it and she has been more outgoing since they started dating. Her brother is a cop, working his way up and enjoying what he does. I must admit it's nice having him close to home.

While sometimes I miss Arthur, I think he'd be proud of us. We're still proud of him."
