Cats have been a friend for me all my life. Even when an infant, I slept in my crib with my pal head-locked beside me, putting up with me for whatever reason I don't exactly know.

Through childhood, I always smiled at the sight of my friend coming my way, tail-strut high as if he owns the place, even when it was merely to beg for food or a moment of my attention. Those moments I fondly remember well and I smile thinking what it meant underneath the surface like a shared secret pact never once spoken aloud because it would dissolve all the wonderment.

Never did those times seem as obvious as simply my friend satisfying his own needs. Too coincidental of support for when I felt lonesome, too timely for when simply laying on my lap would absolve all my worries. Perhaps I think cats are far too clever for their own good, but there was always something unspoken between us like good friends; we helped one another out and never ask one another to fulfill the role of being there as a friend, a small scratch behind the ear or the warmth of someone keeping you smiling.

Then off he would go to mind his own business, and I smiled, not saddened in the slightest, because I knew he would come back again when needed, and I wouldn't have to even ask.

As I think back these small memories, I find them fitting for this second character. "Olie" embodies those past feelings, but I also think of him as a dose of optimism to my cynical self, even though his ideals might be at a fault for him or for others around him. Olie means well despite whatever his determination or political affiliations leads him, or however entitled he may seem to be. He'll hold his paw out for Sherbert knowing you'll gladly give him one if he'll pull up a seat beside you.

This character is still a rough-draft for me, but I think of him as a synesthete. What is Synethesia? His color scheme is due to this mental abnormality as well as to his mother being colorblind, which is how he sees himself despite being a very gray cat. His condition helps him experiment with his artistry, sometimes seeing sounds, hearing colors or whatever shapes his perception of the world around him.

As to regards to his preferences in people, he only asks for anything but dull folk. He isn't committed to one interest or the other, though he does enjoy at a little burlesque performances, sometimes indulging in them himself in private. And not just for males. His view of the display of nakedness: A man's home is his castle, he is king, and his nakedness is his own liberation from the routine.
