Thobias is a non-anthro dolphin that wears mechanical arms and legs to give him mobility on land and an upright posture. He is generally a little anxiety-prone and repressed, but friendly and open-minded. He speaks in a nasally voice, interspersed with typical dolphin chatter. He usually wears a baggy hoodie and jeans to cover his mechanical limbs and appear more anthropomorphic. The limbs were built for him by the professor that he studies under, Dr. Sigmund X. Fuchs. He is secretly very embarrassed by his fake limbs, and savors any time spent in the ocean without them. However, he doesn't fit in with regular dolphins, having spent so much time living on land.

Before he began attending college, he served as a freelance interpreter between dolphins/other sealife, and land creatures, living in a dolphin habitat at a local rehabilitation facility. He was born in captivity, before holding sealife in landlocked parks was made illegal (which happened after the communication barrier was broken), so as much as he loves spending time in the ocean, he can never truly make a home there.

When he's not busy studying language and robotics, he enjoys cooking vegan seafood and making new friends. As a dolphin, he has a high sex drive, but is embarrassed of that as well, mostly repressing it. He has never had a long term relationship that lasted due to his innate delphine desire to mate with all close friends - because of this, he identifies as polyamorous, but it isn't something he's completely public about.
