One of the main characters from ECO - Elancia Chronicles: Order of New Gods.

We used to see him out in the woods sometimes, Camdyn and I. He lived like the feral foxes, we guessed. We didn't know whose kid he was, or why he didn't show up at school. He was just the boy in the woods. He seemed a touch daft, and wasn't too eager to play with us or anything -- in fact, he often avoided people.

I would see him outside our cabin at night, but he never did anything that alarmed me. I was a kid, anyway. I just wanted a new friend -- not one of the kids from the village, but someone who wouldn't tease me or Camdyn, even though he was older. It took us a while to finally corner him, but we managed.

He was rare, fleeting -- like the shadow of a quickly passing cloud. He'd be there, and then he wouldn't. Said his name was Allegro, once. We never found out his last name, or if he had one. He never took that funny hat off.

When I left Qaimusu, I thought I'd seen the last of him, but... I can still smell him here in the ruins of my house. The scent is fresh. He still smells like a child.
