Character reference album with full descriptions and details

Born in the great L'tahr capitol Soltice City to two brilliant scholars, the young Topaz and her siblings Unghopaz, Ruby and Sapphire had it made for some time. Bad blood and corrupt politics landed her family in dire straights though, so she and her siblings ended up turning to petty crime and robbery to keep them afloat while her parents struggled to make ends meet by being translators and scribes for hire. Unfortunately, the brilliant young L'tahrs found they actually enjoyed the dangers of being on the wrong side of the law, and as long as they had each other to watch their backs, they were incredibly hard to catch. By the time her parents were becoming prosperous again, Topaz and her siblings had already ran away from Soltice to make a name for themselves across the expansive region of Aquelli.

For years they took jobs here and there, first as "couriers" to steal high priced magical and scientific goods. After Topaz was able to refurbish and retrofit an ancient flying machine they became notoriously powerful pirates themselves, controlling multiple aerial trade routes with their cunning and elemental abilities inherent of their race. After many violent confrontations with a righteous mercenary group known as the Iron Medallions, the L'tahr brigands decided to try turning over a new feather, so to speak. They ended up joining the Medallions, exploring the length and breadth of Aquelli and beyond with their newly found comrades for many years. Topaz ended up marrying a L'tahr in the merc group named Diamond, but not even a full week passed before he was assassinated by an operative that had been following their group for years.

Topaz has somewhat settled back down in Soltice in recent years with her daughter Petraquoise, but she still does not hesitate to help her friends and former Medallion members if trouble arises, and it has been a lot around Aquelli, with civil wars and other unsettling political rumblings...

~Personality~

Topaz on good days can be rough, loud, overly frank and very abrasive to many people, but on the inside she has a heart of gold and loyalty to match. She places immense value on friends, her daughter and her siblings (especially her twin, Unghopaz). That being said, she is also an incorrigible thrill-seeker, often getting herself (and others) into trouble on occasion. Thankfully she is just as competent getting out of hot spots as she is getting into them after years of experience.

She is of genius-level IQ, as a result she's very confident in her abilities. She is a great problem solver and tactician; she usually ends up being the "brains" in any given mission or plan, and she is a natural-born leader. She can motivate even the most disillusioned mercenary into action, not only through her words but what she does and how she carries herself.

• Inspiration: Many. Possibly too many to list, and besides it has been many years since I've created her, so some of the original inspirational material might have muddied somewhat over time. Love of lighting storms and bright contrasting colors (which are analogous with myself; blond hair, blue eyes). Birds, of course.
• I consider Topaz one of my prime "inner" characters, that is to say she is an extension and magnification of certain aspects of myself. She was created/discovered a very long time ago (around 1998) and has great personal significance for me.
