Synk is a gureyu, and implike amphibious freshwater species. They are hatched from eggs and sold in bottles as pets, typically. Normally they need both air and freshwater to survive, but many wizards and druids have learned refreshment spells for their gureyu familiars to prolong the time they can stay out of water. Omnivorous creatures, in the wild their diet consists of insects, fruit, and small animals or fish. The spots beneath their eyes and dangling growths on their tails are bioluminescent. Depending on the genetics of their parents, they range in size from five inches all the way to five feet.

Synk herself is two feet tall. Crafty and intelligent, she has always resisted being "owned" by anyone, escaping her original owners shortly after being hatched. When the adventurers saved her from death, she decided to stay with them.

okay, Backstory is a work in progress. When I add a druid/wizard/priestess to my adventuring group, Synk's story will likely be linked to being rescued by that person. In any case, I thought she would be a pretty good fit there, canonically.
