Grendel is a Crutsu with a slightly sour temperament who used to be an artist. He used to be a lot of things, like reasonably friendly with people. That was before he had a stalker.

Now he's kind of a grouch, and he's travelled around Uo taking odd jobs and trying to avoid said stalker. Eventually he answered a weird ad and ended up working for a weird but brilliant scientist named Kurzo. He's basically being paid to stand guard on the opposite side of a secret portal between Uo and another planet. That planet is Rhom. He's pretty unsure about the legality of all this (and also the existence of other planets), but it does ensure his stalker can't find him.

Ironically, he's related to Troika, but neither one knows the other exists. They're first cousins once removed.
