*With his father's bioluminescent blood, flesh, electroreception, magnetoreception, a snake-like jaw structure and a tendency to eat static-laden socks and assorted laundry items, the best James can figure is that Surge is some weird alien from space.

Add in the ability to "static" himself to walls and climb them, James also suspects he's some sort of crime fighter when he isn't watching. Since the electrofox doesn't technically sleep, it's entirely possible.

That, unfortunately, isn't true. He works at his own personal dojo, teaching several classes an assortment of martial arts he's learned over the years.

While colorblind, Surge's extra senses help him along despite various handicaps. He and electronics don't mix. He can't read most electronic displays since his eyes (allegedly) can "see electrical impulses". An average LCD would be a blinding plastic square.

He does his best to keep his electrically-enriched nature as low-profile as possible, but hasn't found a way to keep his glowing claws and skin under wraps short of uncomfortable body-paint. That being the case, he's used to awkward stares and cell-phone pictures. Of course, when there are people walking around with rainbow mohawks, maybe he doesn't stand out too much.*

Do not immerse in water; even partially.
