James (the first voice that Abbey started hearing. It can be kind of rude, but it can also be comforting)

Abbey was diagnosed with Schizophrenia after a serious of what he thought were accidents. The first voice was James, but Abbey wasn’t really bothered by it. Then the violent one showed up. It convinced him to kill the neighbor’s cat. Later he remembered killing the cat, but he wasn’t sure why. He knew it was the voice when it told him to get the dog too. Since then, several more voices had moved in and when he was in high school, the other hallucinations started. He slowly drifted away from the friends he had because the voices were sharing with him ‘horrible things that they thought about [him]’. There were several violent voices at this time and his parents didn’t feel equipped to try and help him so they contacted the mental hospital. His parents visit him every now and then, but if they go too long without contacting him, the voices try to convince him that they don’t care anymore.
When Jack first arrived at the asylum, James told Abbey to try to befriend her. So he did. She fought him for a while, but then admired his persistence and now they’re best friends. Jack can usually help him figure out what’s real and what’s not.

Fun Fact: Abbey thought he might be gay for a bit.
