Lynnette switches between ‘she’ and ‘he’. Throughout her childhood, Lynnette was best friends with her twin brother Lyonel. Unfortunately, when they were 8, there was a fire in their home. It was the middle of the night and by the time Lynnette and her brother woke up, their room was in flames. Lyonel, (whom Lynnette would always refer to as the clever one), remembered the fire ladder under the beds and they managed to get the window open and let down the ladder. He made Lynnette go first but as he was climbing down he lost his grip and fell. Lynnette thought that it was her fault for the longest time, but finally came to terms with the fact that she couldn’t have done anything. At that point, she began to dress up like a boy and pretend to be her brother. By the time she was in middle school, she told the kids that Lynnette had moved to live with another relative and that Lyonel stayed behind. Eventually some of the kids found out but she didn’t really care. Now, only a few of her close friends know that her ‘brother’ is actually her as well.

Fun Fact: Lynnette/Lyonel is a psychology major and hopes to become a school counselor.
