Nathaniel was born in Ireland, but his family moved to America around when he was 8. He quickly got rid of the accent, but realized that it still popped up when he got mad and started yelling at people. After high school he attended a military school but never actually went into the army. He started training to become a secret service or FBI agent, and in the process he met a lovely girl named Alexandra. They dated for several years and when Nathaniel was 24, he asked her to marry him. They had been married for about two years when Alexandra decided that she wanted children and Nate figured why not. They were very confused a few months later when Alexandra had failed many times to get pregnant. A few tests later and they discovered that Nathaniel was infertile. He suggested adopting but Alexandra just said that maybe it wasn’t the best idea for them to have kids yet anyway. A little shy of 8 years later, Alexandra was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. After about a year, her condition had been deteriorating quickly and she passed away. They had been married for 11 years, 8 months, and 3 days (Nathaniel remembers this very well).
Shortly after Alex had passed, Nathaniel was hired by Christopher Erin to be considered as a bodyguard for his son. When Nate first met Ali, he wore a green tie to maybe make a good impression but it got really awkward very fast. Nathaniel had to admit that he wasn’t too fond of Alistair when they first met, but he knew how much he really needed to be protected. After a few months their friendship really started to grow. Nathaniel drives Alistair everywhere and now does any cooking required. They often stay at the office very late and have to pick up food to take home. They usually end up going for Chinese, but sometimes when Alistair is almost asleep and probably won’t eat any food anyways, Nathaniel gets Mexican. He also usually does his own thing for lunch because Alistair likes to order pizza. Nathaniel used to live on his own with a goldfish that Alistair may or may not have gotten him for Christmas the first year, but he recently moved into Alistair’s apartment after a small issue with some criminals. Alistair’s father wasn’t too happy about this, but there wasn’t much he could do about it.

Fun Fact: Nathaniel still wears his wedding ring.
