Alistair was a very energetic child. He was always running around with his older sister and brother. Despite Alistair’s cheerful demeanor, he didn’t actually have many friends. He had a bit of a trust issue, but no one really knew where it came from. Alistair attended a private school up until he went into high school and then his parents decided that it was high time for him to face the real world. However, for Alistair’s 15 birthday, his family took a trip by train around the American-Canadian border. About halfway through the trip, there was a problem with the brakes and the train was unable to stop. In the crash, Alistair’s right leg and lower spine were permanently damaged and his brother, Michael, was killed. After a few months of physical therapy after the surgery, Alistair was permitted to go back to school. He didn’t have to repeat his freshman year because he took the courses online at home while he was recovering. He spent most of his sophomore year on crutches or in a wheelchair, but was able to walk with a cane for the later half of the second semester. Somehow he still managed to be a really happy kid, but he got bullied quite a bit throughout the rest of his schooling.
Throughout the time he was in school, Alistair had quite a few girlfriends. They all ended up moving away and one actually came close to dying. So he pretty much gave up on romance. When Alistair was 32 he inherited his father’s job when his father retired. That was also the day he met Nathaniel. A short time after Alistair’s 33rd birthday, there was a night that Alistair stayed at the office particularly late and by the time Nathaniel drove Alistair home, Nate was too tired to drive safely so he stayed in the guest room. Later that night, a man broke into the apartment to either try and kill Alistair or kidnap him for ransom (it happened to be the latter). But the guy was so bad at attempting this that he broke almost everything glass on his way out. Nathaniel was awakened by this and managed to save Alistair, even though he was still half asleep. After the whole ordeal, Alistair and Nathaniel came to an agreement that Nathaniel should move into the apartment so that Ali felt safer. Alistair’s dad still hasn’t gotten around to talking to him about that.
