Bertel is a main character in the webcomic too. He's the servant that's in charge of all the other servants. Before he lived in the castle, Bertel was an orphan living on the streets, barely managing to get himself food every few days. When he was 15 and terribly sick, Varlo (who was then 19) spotted him and brought him to the castle. After Bertel recovered, he was given a spot on the castle staff.
He's a very light-hearted young man, but he's not the smartest. He barely knows how to write or read; he's basically illiterate.
Fun Fact: He can sing very well.
Fun Fact 2: He gets quite mad when he hears other servants saying bad things about Varlo.
