Barghest

For a long time, the moors around Whitby were haunted by a large black dog, known as the barghest. It was said that to hear the howl of the barghest was to hear an omen of death; either your own or of someone close to you. Even outside of that it was a nasty creature, terrorising the locals. In the 1950s an exorcism was carried out in an attempt to rid the land of the presence of the beast. To some degree, it worked; the howls were silenced, but the barghest, eventually named Vladek, remained in the area.

Years later, a group of students dabbling in the occult decided (possibly while drunk or high) to summon a new barghest into the area. However, during the ritual, one of the students accidentally spilled curry sauce into the potion they planned to use. So a new barghest was created... as a crude, gluttonous slacker of an anthro who has little ambition beyond becoming a rock star.

Alborke, as he came to be known, has a strained relationship with his “father”, who in turn is always trying to persuade Alborke to be more stereotypically evil. When not touring, Alborke is a keen horror enthusiast (books, movies, video games, etc), and has dreams of directing a horror movie. On tour he has been known to be rather temperamental, openly preferring big arena concerts to smaller, more intimate gigs, which has caused a rift between him and his bandmates on occasion, particularly with Fermac, who he has near-constant disagreements with. Though he can be arrogant and egotistical, he truly does care about the well-being of his bandmates underneath his bluster. One curious coincidence from the tours is that some of the people who attend have died just a few days after attending. Alborke has no comment on the matter.
