It's been a few months since I worked on a solid personal painting like this. A couple of years I read a book about how to deal with the inability of painting despite a strong desire to paint. The book was "Art & Fear" by David Bayles and Ted Orland. I decided to reread it and it reminded me how important the right mindset is to painting. To get things going again I went back to my painting with the black wolf and the hare and do something similar to it, instead of trying to create something entirely new. After I got it far enough to have a strong direction, I took inspiration from the sculpture by Beth Cavener Stichter. Her work carries a lot of what I desire to portray in my paintings. I'm very happy with how this painting turned out. I'm looking forward to making more. I also hope that you spend some time thinking about what a real rabbit is. (:
