Species Design: Kissik

WallaReaper

Roughly three to four feet tall as adults, Kissik are not mammalian, reptilian, dragon, or anything close to them but in some appearances. They instead lie in terms of Earth species as somewhere between insect and fungus. Far lighter than they look, they are as agile as dragonflies in the air and as nasty as raptors with their claws. If claws won't do, they can fill a target's lungs with toxic spores and come back for it when it drops.

Bright colors still mean 'don't mess with me' and while no one has been able to figure out their society or organization, they do have one and there is a definite safety in numbers component to this highly aggressive species.

Unfortunately for them, their spores can be used to make potent narcotics and other tissues, especially the tails, can be harvested for pharmaceutical compounds. The street value of an adult Kissik is in the millions. Attempts to breed them in captivity have failed. While there is no gender known to exist in the species, there may be an intermediate stage that could be parasitic or symbiotic with another species on their homeworld. However, this issue has only driven their value up, and many hunters die trying to bag suitable specimens.

Kissik do appear to have their own language, but to date there are no translations available. Their name comes from the sound made when they make raking attacks.
