Shimmi

Okay so Shimmi's a half ring-tailed lemur, half dragon right? Well her original design (on the bottom) doesn't really reflect that very much. In fact, she looks like a weird mishmash of other animals but certainly not lemur-like. I went to the zoo the other day to study the ring-tails they have there, and they're so beautiful and energetic I felt that I needed to come home and impart some of those observations on Shimmi.

Here's where I need help: I suck at designing. Obvious things I can do, so her forelimbs are less canine and more primate, her muzzle is shorter and colouration is much similar to a lemur. But it needs something else, it needs embellishment. Any input will be helpful, take the image and scribble on it if you wish, I just want some fresh ideas to help inform my decisions. I'm having a look at other people's characters to see what makes them beautiful and unique but I'd love some input.

Thanks guys!

This looks good (the top one) The way you did the nose definitely helps a lot, and the front hands, the tail is pretty good too since it's just a hybrid, a few thigns that might help, if you want it to look more like it's mixed with a lemur, you might want to make back feet not paws and instead more like primate feet with claws (since it's a dragon hybrid) lemurs don't have paws, other than that, it honestly looks like a nice hybrid, possibly more dragon things too (horns spikes, or wings etc.)?Id, I really like the way you did the fluff and the facial structure ^^

Hey! I would personally put the horns back on that you had in the first image, perhaps make them bone coloured, like an off white? and more pointed like you would expect from a dragon, I think it does help her to look more like a dragon really, and its a nice edition to her design! I also agree with a lot of what the first commenter on here said, claws for the back feet would look good, maybe make them more long than you would on a regular canine for example. I would also consider possibly some wings? I understand its your design, but it could be something that helps her feel more dragon like, or the tendrils that you see on eastern dragons that come from the muzzle area? could be a design aspect that could work, especially as eastern dragons are less likely to have wings, and a longer body which seems to be whats going on with her design. You could also play around with the idea of scale details? maybe down the front of the muzzle, or along the tops of her fingers/ toes? could make those in the old baby blue that you had on her design as I think its a lovely colour scheme, add a splash of colour to the monochrome here. Anouther idea could possibly be a band of colour around her ankles and wrists? is just something I would personally add to help add some colour's and some interesting patterns and designs to her, thats my ideas anyways, I hope some of them help you! :D

Yeah, her horns will go back, I always forget them. They'll be more like a roe buck, so still short and stubby but with two prongs and more of a bone-colour. She used to have scales, but I dunno, I want her to be feminine and fluffy and the scales didn't fit too well with that image. Same goes for the whiskers, although that would improve her dragon-like qualities. I definitely don't want wings, they get in the way really. I draw them for play, but she's a floaty dragon rather than a high-speed flight kind of girl. Claws, yes, and perhaps more reptilian feet on the back. That's where the scales would fit in I suppose!
