Storm of Fancy (critique requested)

Dark Violet

Lifting himself up, Keane’s hooves sank slightly into the cool fluff before he gave himself a thorough shake, as if to toss the feeling aside as easily as he did the stray tufts of cloud that had been sticking to him.

He could, of course, wait for this potential downpour to reach its peak. There were enough clouds scattered in the sky that it was possible such a thing could happen. Then again, there was also the option to, well, help it along.

Lifting his front, left hoof (which one must always lift when considering such weighty matters as this), Keane finally gave a nod before striking his hoof down, sending other bits of cloud into disarray.

Yes! Why should he have to wait for it to reach maturity when he could just as easily bolster it up and have a grand gale?!

Shifting his weight, Keane pushed away from the edge of the cloud and bucked, freeing himself of his dismal mood and giving a shout for any and all to hear.

Ears perked, the absence of a response didn’t dissuade him. Instead, he gave a spin and a kick before striking his forehooves down against the cloud, bucking backwards then leaping to the side. Tossing his head up, his mane of mists swirling to keep up, he reared, pawing the air and bobbing his head, swaying while not yet falling. Tendrils of electricity sparked along his skin, summoned uninvited, but not unwelcomed, from his jagged horn. Cold air pressed against his sides as his personal mists grew darker, heavier, almost in sync with the cloud he rode.

Crying out, coaxing it, Keane fell, spun, and kicked, prancing along the edges so he could see his cloud tightening up on the slender openings that had, moments ago, been letting sun trickle down. Nearby clouds were gathering closer, no longer casually drifting alongside, soon to merge into his own.

Each kicked hoof made the cloud darken, every toss of his head and twirl of his body causing the cloud to swell.

Soon. He could feel the word humming like struck crystal through his bones. Soon!

A little piece done as a revisit to an older story. Pokégirl's works are lovely, so full of research, passion and character - but with this one especially, it was the uniqueness in the species that really leaped out at me. Getting to join in was just icing on the cake ^w^

Enjoy~
