There are some things I start to feel
when people say 'Cartoons aren't real".
To some out there they're just pretend
but not to me. To me, they're friends.
These characters may not exist,
and yet these feelings still persist.

I think about the times back when
my disbelief I'd oft suspend.
Back to the days when loneliness
meant toons on tube were friends I'd miss.
With each and every episode,
Away my sadness would erode.

The tons of laughs that they'd provide
made many of my tears subside.
I'd wish, and wish to meet my toons,
and imagine asking them a boon:
"Please stay with me a little while."
"Just one more laugh, and one more smile."

The thing I learned from all of this
is 'toons can bring you lots of bliss,
and just becuase they can't be touched
does not mean you can't love them much.
It does not mean they won't come through,
and does not mean they don't love you.

If in your heart much love you feel
for them then yes, your toons are real.
