Wesley the Dusk Dragon - new character (and one that I WILL do something with).

Wesley is inspired by Barn Owls and Red Foxes. His name is the same as a Barn Owl from the true story ‘Wesley: The Story of a Remarkable Owl’ by Stacey O’Brien (A recommended read if you like owls and heart-felt animal tales).

Wesley has vaguely Barn Owl like colouring, and habits much like the species; like the ear-piercing screeches and hissing, silent low-flying hunting, and not liking rain, for example. A lot of his behaviour and diet come from Red Foxes, as well as being the size of one. He’s a bit daft and mischievious. His skin is a dense velvet-like hide and semi-rigid fringing on his back and head/tail ruffs.

He is a young male dragon, who incidently cohabits in an old badger sett with a young male fox. Dusk dragons mostly live in old fox dens or badger setts. He and his fox friend like chewing on rubber objects… the local farmer still doesn’t know how his Land Rover’s tyres keep being punctured.

The species hunt mainly at dusk (hence the name) and later into the night. Flying and swooping from perches, and skimming hedgerows and fence-lines. They eat: rabbits, pigeons, rats, and frogs; but also fungi and berries, and scavenge or eat earthworms.
