Lieutenant Burchell is the first native of Africanus-3 to join Starfleet. Africanus-3 is populated by people of various diverse species who share an ancient but effective tribal system of governance. Global peace was established approximately one hundred years ago, and their first warp drive was invented in the last 15 years.
