Well it couldn't last forever; I couldn't responsibly keep my claws away from paper and pencils in light of all the talented artists about, bringing beautiful new creatures into existence - and so behold the atrocity that is my first attempt at drawing my dragon.

In doing so, I decided it was time to add a bit more detail to a somewhat mundane exterior - namely bringing the gold of Zael's eyes into the body. Other little changes include a small nose horn, a second set of slashes along the arms and legs, and perhaps most notably - a (hopefully) unique insignia on the beast's left arm. All of these little touches actually came from a dream I recently had of my dragon fighting a towering demon with a combination of aerial acrobatics and ethereal magic, channeled through an ornate staff.

I don't pretend for a second that is the sort of "artwork" that could be called "good" but as a first foray, it was certainly enjoyable - who knows maybe I'll yet tempt fate a few more times and see what else I end up with (I seem to remember practice making perfect). For you actual artists out there, if you have any comments, tips or suggestions based on what you see, please don't hesitate to share - I'm sure I have lots to learn and drawing has NEVER been my strong suit.
