Stormy Skies - by Danza

Yuuryuu

The storm was moving in fast. It would be intense later, but for now it was just a light drizzle. Normally Chirou would be out playing in the rain; he loved jumping in puddles and splashing about, but he had been given some errands to run. The tundra wolf was actually in his teens, but everyone that knew him knew his mind never seemed to move beyond that of a small child.

Chirou headed out figuring he could try to play in the rain on the way and if he hurried he might be able to play before the storm got too bad. He had a list of everything he had to do because there was no way he’d be able to remember it all, and he usually got distracted by the fancy looking items in the market anyway; having a list helped keep him focused.

After completing most of the list, all Chirou had left was a bit of shopping. As Chirou was buying the items on the list the storm was getting worse and pretty much everyone told him to hurry and get home safe from the worst of it. As he was finishing up the last of his shopping, a flash of lightning filled the sky and thunder boomed. He quickly thanked the vendor and hurried off towards home.

A short distance out-of-town a large crocodilian called to him, “you shouldn’t be out in this storm, it’s dangerous.” Chirou couldn’t remember seeing the man before; he was mostly blue with stripes and wore very little showing off the scars on his body. The croc spoke up again, “why don’t you come with me and get some shelter until the storm lets up.” Chirou thought that the idea made sense and had no reason not to trust the man, so he agreed.

The croc led Chirou to a small cottage not too far off and let inside. As soon as he walked in the croc slammed the door shut and locked it. Chirou found himself in the company of two more dangerous looking crocodilians, one mostly red and the other mostly green. The blue croc chuckled, “I can’t believe you followed me, now give us everything you’ve got if you want to get home alive.” Chirou hesitated, which the three crocs didn’t like as they all pulled knives out. “You don’t seem to understand the situation you’re in,” the green croc said threateningly. The red croc was much less patient and approached Chirou with his knife, “maybe we need to show you that we’re serious.” As he moved to cut off one of Chirou’s ears, the innocent tundra wolf clamped his eyes shut in fear, but before the knife cut into him he heard a loud roar and the splintering of wood around him.

Rage, filled with unquenchable rage. These bipeds were just like the others, causing pain for their own selfish desires, these pathetic creatures would meet the same fate as all the others.

A massive black dragon burst into the cottage with a roar, the small building completely demolished around the inhabitants. Chirou’s attackers fell back in terror of the giant beast. The dragon was angry, as angry as the storm seemed to rage around them. He breathed a jet of fire at the attackers before lifting into the air. The dragon roared again as lightning flashed and dove at the crocs, rending their flesh with his claws before setting their remains alight with a fire unaffected by the storm and burning until no traces of the men remained. He flew off into the storm immediately after as quickly as he’d appeared.

Chirou opened his eyes a moment later, back on the road where the man had originally called out to him. He didn’t remember the man or stopping, but the storm was definitely worse than before. A crack of thunder shook him to his senses reminding him that he needed to hurry home, it was dangerous out here in the storm.

Don't do anything to turn Yuuryuu's rage towards you, you will meet a swift and destructive end.
