"I was told that if you scaled the mountain, you would understand everything. That you would understand your purpose on this earth.

"But when I scaled the mountain, I saw only a shape. Bright and distant, and cold. I could taste blood for as long as I stared at it. It leaked light from a hole somewhere within it, focused into four rays stretching off into the distance.

"Was this the knowledge I was promised? What did this mean? A cold, solid shape leaking ichorous light into the sky? I meditated on this mystery for three days.

"When I realized, I cried out. This is god, I said. This is god.

"And god is as trapped on this rock as the rest of us."
