Nowhere King Halloween Series #11

WisleyChalke

A series of drawings I made to celebrate Halloween involving several my friends' characters. I was inspired by this song here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zEGbIpD6wNo. Which I used as a basis to make a little story. Of all the drawings, I think this was the one with, how should I say, the one with the biggest scope. I mean, I came into it with the general idea of wanting to pull the view back and have it be over an entire landscape as a way to show just how prominent and massive the emerging darkness shown in the previous drawings actually was and how much it was reaching. The houses and trees and everything else all look so small compared to this massive geyser shooting up over the horizon and into the sky, with dark clouds circling around and the sky starting to blacken. Well, I thought it would be a really cool idea to do, but of course, it'd also be extremely difficult. I don't really know how to draw or plan out backgrounds of anything of that sort of scale, and would likely lose track of myself very quickly if I tried to do it that was. So actually, this picture is much smaller than all of the other pictures I had drawn up and I decided it would be best to keep things to a small scale so it would be more manageable. Furthermore, since the idea was that the view was supposed to be so far away and overlooking the entire area, I thought it'd be okay to be a bit sloppy with the little details and keep them really minimalistic, as if you could just barely tell what they even are. For example, with the little houses and trees and just to avoid having it be too monotonous, I also would draw other random structures that I couldn't really tell you what they're supposed to be but they help add a bit of visual diversity to the scene.
