alaslen lavellan

i got around to drawing my first inquisitor. warning for plot/companion spoilers if you read his profile.

i decided his name is alaslen, which means dirtchild, depending on who you ask. he enjoys rooting around in the dirt and picking herbs so it’s not inappropriate. when skyhold’s garden was going to be upgraded he got REALLY EXCITED because HOLY SHIT, MORE PLANTS, but when he found out all he got was 6 measly pots to plant seeds in he was sorely disappointed.
he’s a mage and tends to side with mages on things, but really doesn’t care for magic itself, much. he prefers nature and shit that doesn’t have to do with… the weirdness that is the fade. after the whole Ordeal that was defeating corypheus, he tries to get the advisers off his ass long enough to make a real garden at skyhold and start working on potions between continuing to hold the world together.
part of installing the garden was his immense love for potion-making and horticulture, another part was grieving for his relationship with dorian (he decided against shadowing dorian all the way to tevinter when he realized his heart wasn’t really in it). the fucker smashed his heart into bits when he insisted on leaving, but alaslen has a lot of respect for him despite that.
not being very close to any of the other companions besides varric, cassandra and cole, everyone else eventually drifted away, off to live their own lives. he was already good friends with cole (and had been harboring a heinous crush on the boy basically since they met) so he eventually admits his crush and they enter into a tentative relationship that wobbles between platonic and romantic for a long time. (ive drawn comics about it, uh, Yeah hm)
also this
he travels around a lot still, since gathering plants is a big deal to him. he never did return to clan lavellan, but he writes them from time to time. and that’s as far as i’ve thought. (leans forward on elbows)
eta: i forgot to mention he’s also very dalish and doesn’t give a shit about the maker or andrastian religion At All. he adamantly refuses to let people believe he’s any kind of herald, when he has a say in the matter. he let morrigan drink from the well of sorrows because he was skeptical of its danger, but intensely regretted it when she ended up being fine. he honestly would have much preferred the knowledge went to an elf (even if just a shem elf like himself) than a human, but, thems the dice.
he also tends to give several more shits about racism at the hands of humans than mage problems. when people always expect him to care about mages but never really bring up the damage of human racism, it kinda grates on his nerves.
