A basic ref-type thing for the Dracoind species, at least in this form. As their ancestors, the dragons, come in a multitude of varieties, the Draconoids also do.

These two are Murk (the male) and his sister (unnamed so far). Females of their variety are typically about the same height as their male counterpart, if not larger, but Murk’s sister suffers from the same birth defect he does and as a result, her growth was slightly stunted, and she and her brother are both thinner and more fragile than most others.

Large, long-toed taloned feet make it easy for them to navigate most terrain, but while their long legs give them a gift of speed, the claws are cumbersome and so they are a clumsy race without discipline.

Males have more spines adorning their brows and tails than females do. They often paint their spikes along with their scaly hides to show their clan and rank. This variation is a tribal sort, loose clans converging in one main hub, with smaller settlements in the surrounding territory. For the most party they live peacefully with their own kind but when conflict does arise the lines quickly become clear, split through clans.

Females will lay 1-3 eggs after a short gestation period that start out small and hard, but gradually grow and soften as the hatchling forms within. Hatchlings are still very small even when they emerge from their eggs, and females will often carry them in pouches of cloth draped around themselves like sashes to keep track of the scurrying little reptiles. In their society, mated pairs are often arranged but in most cases will stay together for life. Things like homosexuality are not uncommon, but even homosexual Draconoids are expected to contribute to breeding, at least in times when the population is in decline, and even if they are “assigned” a mate of the opposite gender, their relationships can be as simple as a business arrangement.
