Leo Haze - Leo was a test tube baby who was subject to tons of secret military experiments (mostly involving augmentations) He doesnt have much memory of it since he was very young and soon the government shut down the illicit laboratories and was placed in a group home, after he ran away he lived out in the streets near the scrapyards were he discovered this old, surprising well-functioning mech named Hurricane (now you know were my username comes from XD) Leo figures he can make a living entering him in fighting robot tournaments, afterwards he starts studying up on robotics and beings modding Hurricane himself, eventually learning to sync his implants in the cockpit so he can fight better in manned robot battles and over the years hes had modest popularity in the mecha fighting circuit

as for personality goes hes very shy, pretty passive and doesnt seem to care about making friends or anything, at times he seems to show much more kindness to robots then people. Ive also been playing around with the idea of him possibly having aspergers, and btw when was the last time you ever seen a black mech pilot in an anime?

Gwen Takahiro - shes sort of Leos mech battle promoter and part-time grey hat hacker, while very talented Gwen is not as good as her mother Hikari who was a scientist that went missing right after going out public with incriminating evidence at the top secret laboratory she was working for, presumably the same lab that Leo was raised.

now heres a little back-story about how they met

Seeing as Leo is the only person who could help Gwen on her mothers whereabouts she tracks him down using her awesome hacking skills. Leo, having never had a girl wanting to talk to him before immediately makes its hilariously awkward and uncomfortable. Gwen is disappointed, seeing as he doesnt remember anything and has no knowledge about what happened in that base. Meanwhile shes being stalked by rouge mechs sent to kill her, presumably by someone who noticed when Gwen was hacking into their databases to find Leo and is saved by him and his mech Hurricane at the last minute, and thous they begin there friendship

Gwen, while highly intellectual she tends to be very cocky and sarcastic, often acting as if she is the best hacker in the world. A sharp contrast to Leo's introverted attitude towards life
