Dream Creature #98: The Eccentric

While the exact nature of this creature was never revealed in the dream, it was heavily implied that the Eccentric was of a demonic nature. His lair was on the grounds of an abandoned mansion, the entrance of which he kept a close watch on. Anyone who tried to gain entry could only do so if they solved a riddle he had etched into the door with his fingernails (the first and only line of the riddle I can remember was "I am of flesh and rust...".)
Mischievous - with just a hint of sadism - the Eccentric took great pleasure in confusing people. His speech came in jumbled phrases and he often appeared long enough to add an extra line to his riddle before disappearing just as quickly.
This creature was heralded by the smell of charcoal. Gasoline was his beverage of choice, especially if it was served in a teacup or crystal glass. He would accept it as a bribe without returning the favor.
