I don't often draw fan art unless it's on commission... so when I do draw fan art on my own time, it's usually something that has a special meaning to me.

Spyro the Dragon is actually really nostalgic for me. During my high school years, I spent many happy hours playing the original trilogy by Insomniac. I've played many (but not all) of the Spyro games that have been out since, but none of them have the special place that the original games have for me.

I decided to put my own twist on the purple dragon. My drawing of him is mostly based on old school Spyro, though i used his eye color from the Skylanders games since it pops a lot more than the dark purple. :p
I even tried to make the colors in the background true to the color palette of the original games (this one's based on the Skelos Badlands level from the second game).
