Maya has quite the sad story. On top of being diagnosed with a mental disorder that slows her brain's development and having her parents die at an early age, she and her sister were teased at the orphanage for being born chimeras. It didn't last too long, until some shady government folks whisked them away to some secret facility where they went painful and grueling physical augmentation and training as test subjects for superhuman abilities.

It's no wonder it all manifested into a split-personality known as "Alyssa" who wants nothing more than to break everything.
