0 - THE FOOL

Triti

A collaboration with my friend Sam on discord. She had these ideas for a deck of tarot cards based on a D&D game she ran, and her ideas sung to me, so I decided to draw this, while she prepares a proper story for it!

From Sam:

0 – THE FOOL
Traditionally, The Fool represents a happy, carefree individual, high in energy but low in focus. They are generally good. Traditional depictions have a single male figure looking out over a pleasant vista, dangerously close to a cliffs edge. They often have a symbol of their travel – a bindle or staff – as well as a flower, and a dog.
All cards in this deck mean to play with these classic designs and meanings, at least to some degree. In this, we have Delilah, a catfolk pyromancer. As with tradition, she looks with wonder upon the natural world, enjoying the light rain, while remaining ignorant to the danger right beside her. A fire, a consequence of her own actions, but not so large a flame that the rain will not extinguish it, in time. She is safe, despite ignorance. Her staff reflects her dangerous attitude, her skills working flame, and the general nature of the setting and how it ties to dragons.
In this deck, THE FOOL represents Naivete, carefree attitude, goodwill, wanderlust, and luck.
Inverted, it represents unintended harm, carelessness, and immaturity.
