Hidden in the mountains of southern Kasakhstan are the remains of Bayshansay, a former mining city from Soviet times. Now it is a ghost town, but in the valley, along a creek and surrounded by a post doomsday landscape and a lot of beautiful nature, some people are still living, not more than 40 by my estimation.
The grand sign of the ghost town was freshly painted as we came; we even found the paint roller on the ground below.
