Toadstone

Laz is a former personal avatar for me. I was never really cut out for a "fursona". Right off the bat I was really touchy with who commented and the nature of the comments.

I'll talk about this here rather than FA since the offending party, who is blocked, can't see this submission. Frankly, it feels good to finally being open.

I have had issues with Laz in the past. I had someone who wanted her as a member of his character's harem, and a funny note where someone wanted her bloated with eggs. I laughed these off. BUT....

For a while I stopped posting pictures of Laz. I received a bit of harassment from 2009 to 2012 from a certain individual who has a long well documented history of homophobia and misogyny (and yes I have seen his behavior first hand). I'm pretty tolerant when it comes to comments, truth is I have hidden one comment on FA, and I think two or three non-spam comments on DA. BUT when certain comments come from certain individuals, I'm not so tolerant.

This was also from a time period where I was struggling with my sexuality. This user was leaving passive aggressive skeevy comments towards my female characters (regardless of their orientation) and implying constantly that I needed to give him gift art featuring him and said female characters. He wanted gift art of his character and one of my male characters, but most of his focus was on the girls. And he implied constantly he needed art.

For me, if someone has a long history and hasn't still hasn't learned from it, they're not worth my time, and me explaining to them what they're doing wrong. I just blocked them and move on. Especially when they react to any negativity with violence, it's not worth giving them fuel/excuse.

CUE almost three years of unwatch spamming, unfav/fav spamming, and using a loophole to reply to my comments. And Yes I did ignore him, I even ignored him before when he was unblocked, and still got spammed. Reported him twice, but as long as he wasn't threatening me or bringing up he was blocked, he was okay to do what he wanted.

Laz received a bulk of his harassment and attention (he was utterly insistent was she was steampunk and he needed me to draw gift art for him), so I stopped drawing her and commissioning her, since he'd just go to my commissions and spam me there. In fact I stopped drawing females for a while. I drew other stuff and made a few other kickass characters I love.

I found out from more than a few people he has done this to them. A few months back I saw him whining repeatedly that someone wasn't giving him free art and called him out his begging BS. So you know, lol. :P

If I had a place for her I'd probably draw her more often. I do love her design.

Sucks to hear all that, but I say if you love her design, just draw her. :3 No harm in a few casual drawings of a character you love. Best of luck to you in the future regarding those certain A-holes.

I really wish I just had the balls back then to draw her more often, since I realized I wasn't an isolated case. But I'm stronger, better, healthier than back then and thank you :P

Ugh, I know all too well how that goes.

I do like the character design.

At this point, I just tend to use "primary" as a term for my public character persona(s). The intent is sufficiently clear and helps prevent the dreaded "furry pigeonholing" problem.
